Posttraumatic growth, positive changes that people may experience alongside the distress of trauma, can lead to improved relationships, greater personal strength, and new depths of meaning in life.
Some (re)Builders adopt personal missions arising from their experiences. They find themselves motivated to help others who find themselves in similar positions, to raise awareness, or to prevent what they experienced from happening to others, or to generally gibve back in ways they might not have before.
EMPOWERS is a research-based approach to cultivate posttraumatic growth, increas psychological wellbeing, and advance personal missions that make meaning of (re)Builders’ experiences.
By focusing on Engagement, Meaning, Purpose, Optimism, Wellbeing, Efficacy, Relationships, and Strengths and providing a structured approach for reflection, creativity, and planning, EMPOWERS prepares those who find themselves on a mission after trauma to grow their impact and their wellbeing.
EMPOWERS Online
Online guides participants through eight weeks of learning, engagement, and activities to transform narratives of trauma into stories of empowerment and purpose while increasing psychological resources and survivors' wellbeing.
